Common dental emergencies
Knocked-Out tooth
If a tooth is knocked out, it should be treated within one hour to aid reinsertion. Submerge your tooth in milk or saline within a sealed container, and bring it to our practice straight away.
Cracked or chipped tooth
If treated within one to two hours, we may be able to bond a broken-off piece of tooth back into place. Submerge the fragment in milk or saline in a sealed container and bring it straight to our clinic.
Dental abscess
An abscessed tooth can cause intense toothaches if left untreated. If you can see swelling along the gums by the roots of your teeth, it may be a draining abscess. What’s more, a salty taste can indicate infection. To prevent further pain, you may need antibiotics or a root canal.
Denture repair
Cracked or chipped dentures are often unwearable or unsightly. Please bring your broken dentures to our emergency dental clinic to determine whether a repair is possible or if a replacement must be made.
Crown or filling issue
A crown or filling may become dislodged and/or lost at any time. While fillings will need to be redone, dental crowns can be reused. Find and place the crown in a sealed container and take it to our office as soon as possible.
Bleeding or swelling
Certain dental emergencies are associated with soft tissues around the mouth, such as gums, cheeks and lips. If you are experiencing swelling or bleeding in any of these areas, we can assess your teeth to determine if there is any damage and whether sutures are required.
